The West Noble Lady Chargers battled the tough Columbia City Eagles on Tuesday night at Tippecanoe Valley in the opener of the IHSAA Girls Basketball Sectionals. The Lady Chargers lost 58-26, but played the Eagles tough throughout the evening. Elyse Mead led the scoring with 13, Ella Limerick added 5 while Ava DeLong chipped in 4. Addison Burns and Cloie Ulrey both added 2 for the Chargers. The Chargers finished the season at 7-15 and showed remarkable improvement from last season. 1st year Coach Steve Wiktorowski summed it up best after the game.. "Very proud of our effort tonight. The score got away from us at the end but I thought we were very competitive for long stretches tonight against an excellent team. We rebounded well and they had to work for shots. A few more shots go down for us early and it might have been different. But I felt we improved a great deal this year and this year’s starters are back for two more years. Excited about the future and proud of how we competed with just 8 players this season. We are certainly going to miss our 2 seniors Cloie and Leah! They played great roles this year and their efforts were appreciated!"
