Chargers Win NECC West Boys Track Title

The West Noble High School boys track team capped off a perfect NECC West Division season on Tuesday night with a 94-38 victory over Lakeland High School. With the win, the Chargers finished 5-0 in conference dual meets to clinch the NECC West Division Championship and now turn their attention to Friday’s NECC Championship Meet at Angola High School. West Noble was strong across the board, winning 13 events on the evening. Dustin Richardson led the sprint crew by winning the 100 meters in 11.55 and the high jump with a clearance of 5-10. He also placed second in the 200 meters in 23.57. Xy’Mire Barnes-Bridges added a second-place finish in the 100, won the long jump at 19-6¾, and finished runner-up in the high jump. The Chargers controlled the middle-distance races as Jackson Christlieb won the 400 meters in 52.23 while Nathan Troxel Gonzalez captured the 800 meters in 2:11.87 and also finished second in the 400. Graysen Ruch won the 1600 meters in 4:49.03 and added a runner-up finish in the 3200 meters. Caleb Peterson contributed a second-place finish in the 1600 and third in the 800. West Noble also swept the relays, winning the 4x100 relay in 45.01, the 4x400 relay in 3:43.70, and the 4x800 relay in 9:22.40. In the field events, Ethan Yates had another outstanding performance by sweeping the throws. He won the shot put with a mark of 42-11 and dominated the discus with a throw of 148-7. Xadrian Hofmeister added a victory in the pole vault at 10-6. Lucas Conway paced the hurdle crew with runner-up finishes in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Christian Castro added a strong night in the sprints and hurdles, taking second in the 200 meters and third in the 300 hurdles. The Chargers now head into Friday’s NECC Championship Meet in Angola with momentum after completing an undefeated conference dual season.
