Lady Chargers Finish 3rd At Track Sectionals

The Girls Track Sectional at East Noble High School featured a strong overall performance from the West Noble High School Chargers, highlighted by individual sectional championships, multiple top-three finishes, and several athletes advancing with outstanding performances. Senior standout Gimena Aguilar led the way for the Chargers by capturing the sectional championship in the 100-meter dash with a winning time of 12.56 after also posting the top preliminary time of 12.69. She added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (27.24) and finished runner-up in the high jump by clearing 5-3. Sophomore Elyse Mead also had an impressive night in the sprints, qualifying for both finals and placing seventh in the 100 and eighth in the 200 while also scoring in the long jump with a ninth-place finish. West Noble’s distance program continued its outstanding season with several big performances. Senior Trinity Parson earned runner-up honors in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:32.57 and later placed fourth in the 3200-meter run in 12:13.73. Senior Lanie Martin added a fifth-place finish in the 1600 and placed tenth in the 800-meter run. Freshman Karla Dominguez turned in a strong performance in the 800, placing fifth overall in 2:31.54, while Lynden Chordas finished fifth in the 3200-meter run. The Chargers also showed tremendous depth in the relays. The 4x100 relay team sprinted to a third-place finish in a very competitive race, clocking a 51.42. The 4x800 relay team also earned a podium finish by placing third overall in 10:11.11, narrowly behind runner-up Churubusco. West Noble received key contributions in the hurdles and field events as well. Victoria Mendoza qualified for the finals in the 100 hurdles and placed fourth overall in 17.05. She later added a solid effort in the 300 hurdles. Jennifer Salas Gonzalez scored in the 300 hurdles with an eighth-place finish. Kayle Jordan had an outstanding sectional in the throwing events, placing sixth in discus and winning the shot put with a throw at 39-5. Additional scoring efforts came from Allison Stabler, who placed seventh in the 400-meter dash, and Carolina Garcia, who also competed well in the event. Monet Bieberich contributed in the pole vault, while Rylea Shepherd competed in the high jump. Overall, the Chargers put together an excellent sectional performance with strong showings across sprinting, distance races, relays, hurdles, jumps, and throws.
