The West Noble Chargers continued their strong start to the 2026 volleyball season Thursday night, picking up victories over Fort Wayne Concordia at both the varsity and junior varsity levels. With the wins, both Charger squads improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season. In varsity action, West Noble overcame a slow start to defeat Concordia in four sets, 21-25, 25-15, 25-21, 26-24. After dropping the opening set, the Chargers responded by winning three straight, including a thrilling comeback in the fourth set. West Noble found itself trailing 24-22 late in the fourth before showing plenty of grit to score four consecutive points and close out the match, 26-24. Lydia Mead led the Charger attack with 16 kills, while Ava DeLong finished with eight. Izzy Beers and Reagan Eash each added seven kills to give West Noble a balanced offensive attack. Ella Limerick handed out 26 assists, while Kaylin Slone added 18. Defensively, Beers recorded a team-high 12 digs and Limerick added nine. Eash led the Chargers from the service line with four aces, while Limerick and Slone each recorded two. Coach Alison Mead was pleased with the way her team stepped up and battled throughout the match. The Chargers showed strong blocking and hitting while displaying plenty of toughness in rallying from the late fourth-set deficit to finish off the victory. The varsity Chargers are now 4-0 on the season. The West Noble JV also remained unbeaten with a hard-fought three-set victory over Concordia, 25-16, 21-25, 15-10. Allie Stabler led the Charger offense with eight kills, followed by Amenthis Shaffer with six and Claire Shearer with one. Lauren Coy directed the offense with 13 assists. Defensively, Brooklyn Barden led West Noble with 10 digs, while Claire Shearer added nine and Amenthis Shaffer recorded five. Stabler also had a strong night at the service line with four aces, while Barden and Dayra Hernandez each added one. The JV Chargers improved to 4-0 with the victory. Both West Noble teams will be back in action Saturday. The JV Chargers will travel to Wawasee for the JV Tournament, while the varsity will host the West Noble Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Admission for the West Noble Invitational is $10. West Noble All-Sport Tickets are not valid for the invitational. Great work, ladies! Go Chargers!
