SYRACUSE, Ind. — The West Noble Chargers bounced back in a big way Friday night, knocking off Wawasee 26-16 behind a powerful rushing attack and a steady performance through the air. After suffering a high-scoring loss to Northridge in the season opener, West Noble responded with a complete effort on the road, making big plays on both sides of the football and controlling the game when it mattered most. Quarterback Jackson Christlieb helped lead the Chargers’ offense, throwing for 152 yards and keeping the Wawasee defense on its heels throughout the night. Christlieb showed poise in the pocket and delivered several key throws to keep West Noble’s offense moving. The Chargers’ ground game, however, was the difference-maker. Xy’Mire Barnes-Bridges put together a dominant performance, rushing for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Barnes-Bridges repeatedly found running room and powered through the Wawasee defense, giving West Noble the physical presence it needed to control the game. West Noble also got a big play through the air when Brayden Limerick hauled in a 30-yard touchdown reception, adding another explosive moment to the Chargers’ offensive attack. The 26 points were more than enough thanks to a defense that came up with the stops necessary to keep Wawasee from making a late comeback. West Noble’s ability to run the football, make timely passes and limit Wawasee’s scoring opportunities proved to be the winning formula. For the Chargers, the victory provides an important early-season boost and moves the team forward with momentum after a difficult opening night. The Chargers will host Garrett next Friday night in a NECC big school showdown! https://pressboxstats.com/gamecast/16298 Final: West Noble 26, Wawasee 16.
