West Noble’s boys soccer team used a strong second-half surge to pull away from Wawasee for a convincing 7-1 victory on Saturday night at West Noble. The Chargers held a 2-1 advantage at halftime before exploding for five goals in the second half. Coach Willems credited his team for coming out aggressively after the break, as West Noble scored a pair of quick goals to take control of the match. Christian Hernandez and Emanuel Gutierrez led the Charger attack with two goals apiece. Gutierrez also added an assist. Leo Lopez, Doyan Romero and Angel Recendiz each added a goal for West Noble. Marco Macias, Gutierrez, Romero and Recendiz were each credited with an assist. In goal, Ramiro Pedroza recorded two saves for the Chargers, while Jose Bonilla added one save. The West Noble junior varsity boys soccer team also turned in a strong performance Saturday night, defeating Wawasee 5-1 at West Noble. The Chargers featured a balanced offensive attack with five different players finding the back of the net. Micah Sprague, Cesar Munoz, Braxton Smith, Johann Reyes and Ayden Gonzalez each scored a goal for West Noble. Munoz had a strong all-around match, contributing a goal and an assist to help lead the Charger offense. Defensively, West Noble limited Wawasee to just one goal. Goalkeeper Jacob Coats recorded three saves for the Chargers. West Noble will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 1, when the Chargers travel to Bremen. JV will play at 5:30pm followed by the varsity.
