LIGONIER — The West Noble Chargers used an explosive offense and a strong second-half defensive effort to pick up a 36-27 victory over the Garrett Railroaders on Friday night. The victory was West Noble's second straight after defeating Wawasee 26-16 a week earlier and improved the Chargers to 2-1 on the season. West Noble struck first in spectacular fashion. Sophomore quarterback Jackson Christlieb connected with senior Brayden Limerick for a 94-yard touchdown pass with 3:58 remaining in the opening quarter. Christian Hernandez added the extra point to give the Chargers a 7-0 advantage. Garrett responded with an 82-yard fumble return for a touchdown and then took a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter on a 37-yard touchdown pass. The Chargers answered. Junior Xy'Mire Barnes-Bridges scored on a 15-yard run with 4:52 remaining in the half to tie the game at 14. Garrett quickly regained the lead on Aiden Reed's 56-yard touchdown run, but West Noble needed less than two minutes to respond again. Christlieb found Limerick for another huge play, this time a 68-yard touchdown connection. Brody Mast ran in the two-point conversion to give West Noble a 22-21 halftime advantage. The Chargers took control after the break. West Noble's defense held Garrett scoreless in the third quarter while junior Brogan Parks capped a Charger drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Hernandez's extra point extended the West Noble lead to 29-21. Christlieb then delivered one of the biggest plays of the night early in the fourth quarter. The sophomore quarterback broke loose for a 69-yard touchdown run, and another Hernandez extra point gave the Chargers a 36-21 advantage with 9:32 remaining. Garrett added a touchdown with 53 seconds left, but the Chargers had already done enough to secure the 36-27 victory. Christlieb provided the spark for the West Noble offense, completing 7 of 17 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. He also added the 69-yard touchdown run. Limerick was the Chargers' big-play threat throughout the night. The senior caught three passes for an impressive 171 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 57 yards per reception. His touchdown catches covered 94 and 68 yards. Barnes-Bridges led West Noble's ground attack with 64 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Parks also added a rushing touchdown as West Noble found several different ways to reach the end zone. Perhaps most encouraging for the Chargers was their second-half performance. After Garrett scored 21 points in the opening half, West Noble kept the Railroaders off the scoreboard until the final minute. Meanwhile, the Chargers added touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters to build a 15-point advantage. West Noble has now won two straight games and will look to continue that momentum next Friday when the Chargers host Central Noble on Charger Hill next week! full stats at https://pressboxstats.com/gamecast/17203 Final: West Noble 36, Garrett 27 West Noble Scoring Brayden Limerick — 94-yard TD reception from Jackson Christlieb Xy'Mire Barnes-Bridges — 15-yard TD run Brayden Limerick — 68-yard TD reception from Christlieb Brody Mast — two-point conversion run Brogan Parks — 1-yard TD run Jackson Christlieb — 69-yard TD run Christian Hernandez — four extra points
