West Noble earned an impressive conference victory Tuesday night, defeating Lakeland 3-1 in a highly competitive matchup between two of the top volleyball teams in the Northeast Corner Conference. The Chargers captured the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-21, before the Lakers responded with a 25-21 victory in the third. The fourth set was a back-and-forth battle, but West Noble displayed its toughness down the stretch and secured the match with a thrilling 27-25 win. Defensively, Lydia Mead and Beers each recorded 12 digs, while Elyse Mead added 10. Lydia Mead also led the Chargers from the service line with three aces. Coach Alison Mead praised her team’s effort against a talented Lakeland squad. “It was a great win against a very scrappy and talented Lakeland team,” Mead said. “I’m proud of the team’s mental toughness in the comebacks.” West Noble also won the junior varsity contest in straight sets, 25-11 and 25-9.
