West Noble turned in a strong night at the 2026 NECC Super Duals, highlighted by a championship performance from the Charger girls. West Noble went a perfect 4-0 in its duals, while the Charger boys put together a 5-2 record to finish third in a deep boys field. Girls: West Noble Packs the Front and Goes 4-0 The strength of the West Noble girls was easy to see in the overall results. The Chargers placed five runners among the first 12 finishers and six among the top 13, giving West Noble the depth needed to defeat every opponent. Freshman Sara Aguilar led the Chargers with an outstanding fifth-place finish in 20:44.06. Sophomore Karla Dominguez was right behind her in sixth at 20:47.21, giving West Noble two runners among the top six overall. The pair finished just over three seconds apart. The Chargers continued to pour runners across the line. Sophomore Lynden Chordas finished ninth in 21:22.12, junior Victoria Mendoza was 10th in 21:37.60, and freshman Margarita Marin placed 12th in 22:00.05. Senior Jacqueline Silva was right behind Marin, finishing 13th in 22:01.30. That meant six West Noble runners finished within the first 13 places of the entire race. West Noble's pack was especially impressive. Only 1:16 separated Aguilar, the Chargers' No. 1 runner, from Marin, their fifth scorer. That kind of compression made West Noble extremely difficult to beat in a dual-scoring format. The results showed just how important that depth was. West Noble defeated Fairfield 27-30 in the closest matchup of the evening and topped Angola 25-34. The Chargers also rolled past Garrett 15-50 and Westview 15-50 to complete the perfect 4-0 night. Fairfield finished second at 3-1, followed by Angola at 2-2. West Noble also received solid depth behind its leading group. Monet Bieberich finished 18th in 22:58.39 and Mya Emmert was 19th in 22:59.71, giving the Chargers eight runners among the top 19 overall. Fairfield's Layna Stoltzfus won the individual race in 20:01.26, followed by Angola's Summer Ross and Prairie Heights' Olivia Ritter. But West Noble's ability to put runner after runner near the front proved to be the difference in the team competition. The story of the girls race was West Noble's pack: six Chargers in the top 13, eight in the top 19, and a perfect 4-0 dual record gave West Noble the 2026 NECC Super Duals championship. Boys: Chargers Finish Third at 5-2 The West Noble boys also enjoyed a strong meet, finishing third with a 5-2 dual record. The Chargers' only losses came against the top two teams, undefeated champion Angola (7-0) and runner-up Lakeland (6-1). Junior Graysen Ruch delivered West Noble's top individual performance, placing third overall in 17:28.82. Only Lakeland senior Memphis Martin, who won in 16:23.32, and Fairfield senior Evan Correll, second in 16:43.89, finished ahead of Ruch. Senior Caleb Peterson gave the Chargers another top-15 performance, taking 15th in 18:31.90, while junior Daniel Trinklein followed closely in 17th at 18:39.59. West Noble's next group proved critical to its success in the dual standings. Junior Braxten Kurtz placed 26th in 19:37.59, junior Xadrian Hofmeister was 27th in 19:43.97, and junior Layne Targgart followed in 28th at 19:49.55. The three Chargers finished within about 12 seconds of one another, providing an important second pack behind Ruch, Peterson and Trinklein. The Chargers defeated Fairfield 26-30 in a particularly important and competitive dual. They also defeated Westview 21-39, Garrett 19-43, Central Noble 23-38 and Eastside 21-40. West Noble fell to Angola 20-39 and was edged by Lakeland 28-29, with that single-point decision separating the Chargers from a potential second-place finish. Freshman Nelson Campos added a 32nd-place finish in 20:25.95, while freshman Rigoberto Bonilla was 34th in 20:44.02, providing more encouraging depth for the Chargers. Angola's team strength ultimately carried the Hornets to the boys championship. Angola had five runners among the first 13 overall and completed the Super Duals with a perfect 7-0 record. For West Noble, though, the boys meet showed plenty of positives: Ruch finished third overall, Peterson and Trinklein gave the Chargers three runners in the top 17, and West Noble finished 5-2 with one of those losses coming by a single point. Overall, it was an excellent NECC night for the Chargers — the West Noble girls walked away as Super Duals champions, while the boys secured a strong third-place finish. Great work Chargers!
