Chargers Edged By Panthers In Tennis

By Tom Schermerhorn | Sep 17, 2026 8:30 PM

The West Noble boys tennis team battled Prairie Heights down to the wire Thursday evening before falling 3-2 in an extremely close and competitive match. The Chargers earned one of their victories at No. 3 singles, where Wyatt Blotkamp turned in a strong performance to capture the match 6-4, 6-3 and give West Noble an important team point. West Noble’s other victory came at No. 1 doubles, where Zeb Eicher and Jared Glick battled Prairie Heights and won 6-2, 6-4. Prairie Heights picked up wins at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles to narrowly secure the 3-2 team victory. The No. 2 doubles match was especially competitive, as West Noble’s Lucas Stringfellow and Brayden Brewster pushed Prairie Heights deep into the match before the Panthers were able to take the deciding tiebreaker. The final 3-2 score showed just how little separated the two teams. Several matches featured tight sets and tiebreakers, and the overall team result remained in doubt until late in the evening. Although the Chargers came up one point short, it was an outstanding competitive effort from West Noble as the team continued to battle from the first serve through the final point. The Chargers will complete their regular season Monday night as they host Whitko and will recognize their 2 senior Managers and 1 senior tennis play. That match will begin at 4:30pm. Good luck Chargers!
