The West Noble girls soccer team earned its way into the NECC Tournament championship match Thursday night, defeating Angola 2-1 on the Hornets’ home field. The Chargers received goals from Paulette Garcia and Allison Recendiz to secure the semifinal victory. Recendiz also contributed an assist, playing a role in both West Noble goals. Defensively, goalkeeper Alessandra Torres came through with a big performance, recording 10 saves as Angola continued to challenge the Charger defense. West Noble’s ability to withstand that pressure helped preserve the one-goal advantage and punch its ticket to Saturday’s championship. The Chargers’ overall team play was a major factor in the victory. “Collectively we did very well pressuring, passing, and communicating,” Charger head coach Chris Macias said, “I’m excited to see what the finals holds for us!” West Noble will now turn its attention to Westview in the NECC Tournament championship. The Chargers will travel to Westview on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff, with the conference tournament title on the line.
