The West Noble girls soccer team turned in a courageous performance against top-ranked Westview before falling in penalty kicks during a heartbreaking tournament match. Mia Macias put the Chargers in front with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation. Westview answered with three minutes left, tying the match and forcing overtime. Neither team scored during the two overtime periods, sending the match to penalty kicks. The Warriors narrowly prevailed, 5-4. Goalkeeper Alessandra Torres delivered a spectacular performance for West Noble, recording 12 saves and repeatedly keeping the Chargers in the match. Charger Head coach Chris Macias said he could not be prouder of his players and the way they competed against the state’s No. 1-ranked team. West Noble returns home Monday to begin Homecoming Week with a soccer doubleheader under the lights. The Charger boys will face Bethany Christian at 5 p.m., followed by the girls against Elkhart Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. Food trucks will be on site, and all West Noble students will receive free admission!
