Chargers Sweep Churubusco in Volleyball Action

The West Noble volleyball teams picked up a pair of victories over Churubusco, as the varsity Chargers earned a 3-0 sweep while the junior varsity squad won 2-0. West Noble’s varsity controlled the match from start to finish, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-15 and 25-9. The Chargers received a balanced offensive effort. Elyse Mead and Izzy Beers led the attack with five kills each, while Reagan Eash added five and Ava DeLong and Lydia Mead each recorded four. Ella Limerick finished with 12 assists, while Kaylin Slone added nine. Defensively, Limerick recorded four digs and Lydia Mead added three. West Noble was also strong from the service line with Beers and Elyse Mead each serving four aces. It was also a special night at West Noble as the Chargers recognized members of the 1996 West Noble volleyball team. Head coach Alison Mead thanked the former Chargers who returned for the recognition as well as the Little Chargers who came out to support the team. Mead was a member of the 1996 volleyball squad and current Assistant Coach Bill Lucas was on the '96 coaching staff as well. The Chargers are now 22-3 on the season and 9-0 in the NECC. The Chargers have clinched a share of the NECC regular season title and can win it outright with a win against Prairie Heights next Thursday night! Let's go Chargers! The West Noble JV also turned in an impressive performance, defeating Churubusco 25-18, 25-12. Allie Stabler led the JV with four kills, while Amenthis Shaffer added three. Lauren Coy recorded 17 assists, while Coy and Shaffer each had five digs. Claire Shearer and Aliyea Stauffer added 4 and 3 digs each. Stabler led the serving effort with four aces while Brooklyn Barden added 2. West Noble will return to action Tuesday at Wawasee while the JV is at the Westview Invitational on Saturday beginning at 8:30am. Great work Chargers!
