By Tom Schermerhorn | Oct 3, 2026 11:31 PM

The West Noble cross country teams turned in strong performances Saturday at the NECC Championships, with the girls claiming the conference title in a dramatic tiebreaker and the boys finishing third. The Charger girls and Fairfield each totaled 45 points, leaving the championship to be decided by their sixth runners. West Noble’s Monet Bieberich finished 17th overall in 21:57.73, ahead of Fairfield’s sixth runner in 35th, giving the Chargers the title. Angola finished third with 68 points, followed by Churubusco with 84. Karla Dominguez led West Noble with a fourth-place finish in 20:09.73. Victoria Mendoza placed eighth in 20:37.75, Lynden Chordas finished ninth in 20:57.84, and Margarita Marin took 14th in 21:13.23. All four earned first-team All-NECC honors. Jacqueline Silva completed the Chargers’ scoring five, placing 16th in 21:33.64. Silva, Bieberich and Mya Emmert, who finished 18th in 22:10.23, earned honorable mention All-NECC recognition. West Noble’s five scorers finished just 1:23.91 apart, highlighting the depth and balance behind the championship. Sara Aguilar added a strong 20th-place finish in 22:20.34. Because she was West Noble’s eighth finisher, she was not eligible for conference recognition under the rule limiting awards to each school’s top seven runners. That moved Churubusco’s Brynn Lortie, who finished 26th in 22:52.02, into the final honorable mention spot. Angola’s Summer Ross won the girls individual championship in 19:15.51. In the boys race, West Noble totaled 89 points to finish third behind Angola’s 45 and Lakeland’s 83. The Chargers finished ahead of Fairfield, which scored 100, and Westview, which totaled 113. Graysen Ruch paced West Noble with a fourth-place finish in 17:10.91, earning first-team All-NECC honors. Daniel Trinklein finished 17th in 18:20.60, Caleb Peterson placed 18th in 18:24.36, and Rigoberto Bonilla took 24th in 18:49.24. All three earned honorable mention All-NECC recognition. Layne Targgart rounded out the Chargers’ scoring five in 26th place with a time of 19:06.66. Xadrian Hofmeister finished 29th in 19:21.54, and Braxten Kurtz placed 33rd in 19:41.56 to complete West Noble’s top seven. Fairfield’s Evan Correll won the boys individual title in 15:48.10. West Noble finished the meet with five first-team All-NECC runners and six honorable mention honorees across the two races, capped by a conference championship for the Charger girls.
