Chargers Down Heights To Earn NECC Championship

LIGONIER, IN – The West Noble Lady Chargers put the finishing touches on an outstanding regular season Thursday night, sweeping Prairie Heights 3-0 in varsity volleyball action. The victory improved West Noble's record to an impressive 24-3 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the NECC, securing the Northeast Corner Conference regular season championship! The Chargers dominated the match from start to finish, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-6. West Noble's balanced offensive attack and strong serving proved too much for the Panthers as the Chargers celebrated Senior Night in style. Elyse Mead led the West Noble offense with 13 kills, while Madi Sitts added 7 kills. Izzy Beers and Reagan Eash each contributed 5 kills to the winning effort. Ella Limerick led the Charger offense with 30 assists. Defensively, Lydia Mead led the team with 8 digs, followed by Elyse Mead with 7 and Limerick with 6. The Chargers also received strong performances at the service line, with Darcy Ritchie recording 4 aces and Kaylin Slone adding 3. One of the evening's highlights was the recognition of West Noble's senior players after the JV match. The Chargers celebrated their seniors and their families for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to West Noble volleyball. The four seniors were Izzy Beers, Reagan Eash, Darcy Ritchie and Madi Sitts. Thank you ladies! Coach Mead highlighted the team's performance and the special evening, including Madi Sitt's 7 kills, while expressing appreciation for the seniors. The victory capped off a tremendous regular season for the Chargers, who went undefeated in all 10 NECC regular season matches. West Noble will now look to carry that momentum into postseason tournament play. Junior Varsity Chargers Complete Sweep The West Noble junior varsity volleyball team also enjoyed a successful evening, defeating Prairie Heights 2-0 by scores of 25-14 and 25-17. The JV Chargers received a balanced offensive performance, led by Amnethis Shaffer with 6 kills, while Janie Sitts and Allie Stabler each contributed 5 kills. Lauren Coy directed the offense with 18 assists. Defensively, Stabler recorded a team-high 11 digs, followed by Brooklyn Barden with 7 and Claire Shearer with 3. At the service line, Stabler collected 4 aces, Wysong added 3, and Aliyea Stauffer chipped in 2. The victory was a great way for the junior varsity Chargers to conclude their season and added to an exciting night of volleyball at West Noble. Up Next: NECC Tournament The varsity Chargers will now turn their attention to the NECC Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at Westview High School, with tournament action beginning at 10 a.m. West Noble enters the tournament as the undefeated NECC regular season champion and will look to add a conference tournament championship to an already impressive season.
