The girls and boys IHSAA track sectionals are being held at Angola this year. The girls has been postponed to 5/21 while the boys will be held on Thursday the 22nd. Information is attached below for both events. Officials: The referee/starter and assistant starter are assigned by the IHSAA. These individuals will be in complete charge of the meet’s activities. Jury of Appeals: A Jury of Appeals Committee will be appointed before the meet and consist of the meet director, 3 coaches – selected by the coaches, and assistant meet director. Track: Angola’s track and runway surfaces are standard all-weather latex surfaces. Spike lengths of more than ¼” are not permitted. Timing: The Finish lynx fully automated timing (FAT) system will be used and be the official time. Handheld watches may be used, but only as a backup. Any protests concerning the results of an event must be made to the referee/starter, meet director, or assistant meet director. Protests in the trials must be made before the conclusion of the trials. Protests in the finals must be made before the conclusion of the next race. The review of any finish will be made by the referee/starter, head finish judege, and meet director. Concessions: Concessions will be available for purchase. Admission: All tickets at the gate are $7.00. *All qualified contestants in uniform, two student managers, two coaches, athletic directors, and principals from each school shall be admitted free. There will be a sign-in sheet for athletic directors and principals at the west ticket booth. Team Camps: No team camps will be allowed on the football field. Team camps may be set up anyplace outside the fence around the track. Track Infield: Only actual contestants in uniform participating in an event will be allowed on the infield. Warm-ups on the track will be permitted until 5:30pm. No warm-up will be permitted on the infield turf. Please instruct your athletes to leave the infield area after their event. Dressing Rooms: Dressing rooms will be provided only to those schools in need who request so in advance. Field Events: Shot put and discus rings are concrete. Field event areas will be closed until 4:30pm and when the adult supervisor or judge is not present. All field event contestants should report to the head judge in charge of their event by 4:45pm. All field events will begin promptly at 5:00pm. The shot put will follow the completion of the discus. Coaches Check In: Upon arrival coaches should report to the check in area located at front of the new locker room on the track side. Packets containing meet information, lane assignments, and race numbers may be picked up at this time. Shot Puts, Discus, and other meet equipment will be inspected and marked for use at this location as well. Staging Area: The staging area is located inside the track fence and track chute at the tent. Contestants should report to the staging clerk promptly as the appropriate event calls are announced. Restrooms: Restrooms are located to the east and west ends of the concession stand. Concessions: Concessions will be available. Rules: Official rules as stated in the current National Federation Track and Field Rule Book, and so further modified by the IHSAA, shall govern this meet. Please refer to 2023 IHSAA Spring Bulletin pages 67- thru 86. Entry List: The official list must be completed and submitted to the IHSAA via the www.myIHSAA.net website by 4:00pm, Wednesday, May 14. Refer to spring bulletin regarding changes to entry and after deadline entries. Per email from IHSAA all entries must be entered in Direct Athletics and then uploaded into myihsaa.net to finish the academic portion. Please see attachments for instructions. Emergency Scratches: All emergency scratches for this meet must be made prior to 4:15pm, Tuesday, May 20. Any that can be made in advance will be greatly appreciated and may be done by email to slantz@msdsc.us. Entry Limitations: A. A school may enter 3 contestants in each event, but only 2 may participate, unless all three have made the 3-participant standard. B. No contestant may enter in more than 4 events, excluding relays. Contestant may officially enter. Four individual events … No relays allowed Three individual events … May be listed on any number of relays but compete in only one relay. Two individual event … May be listed on any number of relays but compete in only two relays. One individual event … May be listed on any number of relays but compete in only three relays. Zero individual events … May be listed on three relays and may compete in three relays C. A school may enter 1 team in each relay. Eight (8) participants may be named to a relay team, any 4 of whom may be used if eligible. D. Do not place names on the entry list that are not entered in an event. E. When last minute questions arise regarding a student’s eligibility status (name, discrepancies between Sectional Copy of Entry List and IHSAA Copy, excessive number of events, etc.) and the Commissioner(s) cannot be reached, the host school principal is authorized to permit the student in question to participate with the understanding that the eligibility status may be changed when all facts are reported to the IHSAA. A trophy will be presented to the winning school. Awards can be picked up in the press-box along with meet results immediately after the meet. Seeding Report: Seeds will be emailed to schools participating prior to 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 17. Participants must be entered in an event with a time/distance/height prior to 4:00pm, Wednesday, May 14, 2023 without penalty. Corrections to obvious errors and/or omissions will be accepted by 12:00 noon, Friday, May 16, 2025 if reported directly to the assistant commissioner and accompanied by $200.00. No changes for the purpose of gaining a competitive edge will be allowed. Advancement from Sectional to Regional: Contestants advancing from the Angola Sectional will compete at the Warsaw Regional on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place sectional winners in all individual events and relays plus any individual or relay team meeting the 3-participant standard in the sectional finals of their event will advance to the regional. If the top 3 finishers plus 3-Participant Standard advancers in an event is less than 16, the next best performances from the corresponding sectionals shall be added to bring the total number of entrants to 16 in each event. Scratches from Sectional to Regional: Scratch cards from sectional to regional must be turned in to the press-box no later than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the meet. Within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the final event- Qualified contestants may be scratched form an event without penalty, if reported by the coach to the appropriate tournament director before leaving the tournament center and within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the final event of the meet from the sectional for the regional… If it becomes necessary to scratch a qualified contestant during the above period, the next place qualifier will fill that qualifying position.
