The West Noble Chargers saw their girls tennis season come to a close in a hard-fought sectional match against Lakewood Park, falling by a narrow 3-2 margin. The match was a thriller from start to finish, highlighted by strong singles play from the Chargers. Freshman Natalia Riegsecker continued her impressive debut season with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Fellow freshman Ava DeLong also shined, displaying her season-long growth with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win at #2 singles. The doubles matches proved pivotal, with the #2 doubles team of sophomores Darcy Ritchie and Aubrey Hilbish narrowly falling in a heartbreaker, 5-7, 6-7 (1-7). At #3 singles, Leslei Reyes battled hard but came up short, 6-7 (6-8), 1-6, while the #1 doubles team of Lillian Stout and Beverly Vizcaino was defeated 2-6, 2-6. Despite the loss, the Chargers demonstrated remarkable improvement throughout the season. The team will return a strong core next year, with the only graduating member being manager Keira Murillo. This season marked the first under head coach Kristina Teel, who helped guide the young team through a season of growth and development. Riegsecker will advance in the Individual tennis sectional this next week. The draw and location will be determined.. Good luck Natalia!
